Background and Plans

Kasual Mondays is where I spend some spare time now that I’m no longer a restructuring investment banker in New York, nor any longer one in London, nor even any longer one (briefly) in Hong Kong. I’m no longer a distressed debt analyst in the Tri-State, nor am I any longer a distressed trader in New York.

I am an idle man with leave to garden, yet I have neither a garden nor the inclination to leave to find one. I want an outlet and a challenge. I want to share what I know. I want to learn and understand new ideas under some contrived pressure of doing it live where there’s not quite a Ctrl+Z to makes the bad work go away.

While you’ll likely find an occasional opinion or two, this website will contain a multiple of more useful things such as deep-dive restructuring analyses and commentary on the RX environment; streamlined tools and calculators I’ve used throughout my career spanning trading, investing and RX IB; as well as very ad hoc projects which interest me where I will simply post my working notes and documentation here on the off chance that others are interested and might benefit from whatever forthcoming projects I undertake. For example, I’m particularly obsessed at the moment with refining or, if necessary, rebuilding my MLB baseball total runs model for live market-making across prediction markets before the 2026 season. The model is decent for the bookies, but woefully deficient if I’m to achieve my objective of being profitably two-sided across all of MLB by first pitch 2026. I would post my trials and tribulations with this project, not just the math, code, and systems, but the project details and logistics such as all the BS necessary to even begin making baseball markets on a low-rent institutional level under the watchful eye of the CFTC – just an example of the type of curveballs which may appear on here from time to time.
